Congratulations to the Walkerton Hawks on their repeat as the Western League Champions!

The Hawks for the 2nd year in a row met the Alliston Hornets (GMOHL) in the Quarter Final Playoffs to the Clarence Schmalz Cup.

Unfortunately Alliston once again won the Series eliminating the Western League from the playoffs.

This makes the 4th year in a row our League went down to the Georgian League.

Penetang defeated the Kincardine Bulldogs twice in the Quarter Finals to go on and win the Schmalz Championship while Alliston repeated this last season defeating Walkerton in the Quarter Finals resulting in another Schmalz Cup Championship for the Georgian League. Alliston has the talent to do the same this season!

On Wednesday 01 April, 2009 the Western League were pleased to announce the 2008/2009 Player Of The Year as the Kincardine Bulldogs Blake Underwood.

We wish to congratulate Blake on his great season chalking up 81 Points with 33 Goals and 48 Assists which was "The Best In the West!"
