HAWKS ADVNACE TO OHA QUARTER FINALS

The Walkerton Hawks have pulled off the 3 Peat.  Walkerton defeated Hanover in Game 7 by a score of 4-2, to win the Western Jr C Division 4 games to 3.  This is the 3rd year in a row Walkerton has won the league.  Each of those seasons they have gone on to play the Alliston Hornets in the OHA Quarter Finals, only to lose in 6 and 4 games.  This year Walkerton is hoping to correct that. 
As for Game 7, Walkerton got an early jump on a goal by Mike Bujold only 47 seconds into the game.  Kevin Quincey made it 2-0 on a PP goal midway through the 1st.  Adam Alexander made it 3-0 in the 2nd.  Hanover scored 2 of their own PP goals by Jason Tremble and Derek Widmeyer to make it 3-2 after 2.  A late penalty by Hanover was the end.  Bujold scored his 2nd of the game only 8 seconds into the PP.  Final score 4-2 Walkerton.  Clayton Fritsch picked up the win making 41 saves.  Dave Clement took the loss making 28 saves.
Game 1 vs Alliston will go Tuesday March 23rd at 8:30pm in Walkerton.  Game 2 is in Alliston on Thursday March 25th at 8:00pm.  Game 3 in Walkerton Friday March 26th at 8:30pm.

Hawks Even Series, Game 7 Sunday

Walkerton has done it yet again.  They forced a Game 7 in their series.  The score of the game was 2-1.  Scoring for Walkerton were James McHaig on a weird play.  McHaig shot the puck against the boards behind the net and it bounced and hit Clement in the back and into the net.  Tanner Shlakat had the other on a PP.  Scoring for Hanover was Corey Spears.  Clayton Fritsch picked up the win making 26 saves.  Dave Clement took the loss making 19 saves.
Game 7 is Sunday at 4:00pm in Walkerton

Hawks Force Game 6 With OT Win

The Walkerton Hawks seem to be waiting until the 3rd period to play hockey.  Trailing their Best of 7 Series 3-1, Walkerton fell behind 2-0 in Game 5 in Walkerton on Wednesday night.  Walkerton battled back on a second effort goal by Greg Wardell.  The Hawks than tied the game on a wraparound from Tyler Allen.  This forced OT for the 3rd time in the series.  With just over 8 minutes left in OT, Greg Wardell jumped off the bench and wired home the game winner.  Thus forcing Game 6.  Scoring for Hanover were Jim Hutchinson and Lance Hotchkiss.  Clayton Fritsch picked up the win making 57 saves.  Dave Clement took the loss making 30 saves. 
Game 6 is in Durham on Saturday March 20th at 3:00pm.  Please note the time change.  Due to another function the game had to be moved to an earlier time.

Hawks Face Elminination Again

The Walkerton Hawks find themselves in a familiar position.  They are down 3 games to 1 in the Western Jr C Finals.  They were in the same spot in the Semis.  Does Walkerton have enough gas to pull off 2 big series comeback wins?  Walkerton lost game 4 by a score of 5-4.  Walkerton trailed in this game 5-1 at one point.  Scoring for Walkerton were Kevin Quincey, Steve Allen, Greg Wardell and Steve Collins.  Scoring for Hanover were Rhys Thomas, Andrew Boyle and Jim Hutchinson(3).  Clayton Fritsch stopped 20 of 25 shots, Daniel Trombley stopped all 6 in relief.  Dave Clement made 26 saves.
Game 5 goes tonight in Walkerton at 8:30pm

Hawks Drop Game 3 in OT

Walkerton dropped Game 3 in OT by a score of 4-3.  Scoring for Walkerton were Steve Allen, Kevin Quincey and Steve Collins.  Scoring for Hanover were Andrew Boyle(2) and Jason Tremble(2).  Clayton Fritsch took the loss making 29 saves.  Dave Clement picked up the win with 19 saves. 
Game 4 goes Tuesday night in Durham at 8:30pm

Hawks Shutout in Game 2

Walkerton lost Game 2 by a score of 4-0, tying the series at a game a each.  Scoring for Hanover were Steven Hillier, Sheldon MacLaughlin, Dylan Weltz and Derek Widmeyer.  Clayton Fritsch took the loss making 28 saves.  Dave Clement picked up the shutout making 21 saves. 
Game 3 goes Sunday at 4:00pm in Walkerton.  Game 4 is Tuesday in Durham at 8:30pm and Game 5 is in Walkerton on Wednesday at 8:30pm

Hawks Take Game 1 in OT

Walkerton took game 1 by a score of 4-3 in OT.  Walkerton built up a 3-1 lead half way through the game, only to have Hanover come back and tie the game on a weird goal.  Scoring for Walkerton were Mike Bujold, Steve Collins, Tyler Allen and Tanner Shlakat.  Scoring for Hanover were Rob Hellyer, Andrew Boyle and Tyler Zeggil with the weird goal.  Zeggil took a shot from his blue line during a Hawks penalty and the puck somehow made it past Hawks goalie Clayton Fritsch.  Fritsch picked up the win making 37 saves. Dave Clement took the loss making 31 saves.
Game 2 goes Saturday in Durham at 8:30pm.  Game 3 goes Sunday at 4:00pm in Walkerton.
