Ironmen Comeback falls just short, lose 6-5 to Mitchell

The Wingham Ironmen found themselves trailing the Mitchell Hawks 4-1 at the end of 2 periods on Friday night and clawed their way back in the third before finally running out of steam in a 6-5 loss to Mitchell

Wingham goals were scored by Adam Corbett (2), Chris Corbett, Steve Kerr and Wade Stephenson. 

The team will host Hanover next Friday and travel to Kincardine on Saturday night for a big game with the Bull Dogs

Ironmen defeat Bull Dogs

The Wingham Ironmen travelled to Kincardine on Sunday and came away with a 3-1 victory.

Brady Houston scored the go ahead goal with 243 left in regulation time

Brett Nichol and Steve Kerr scored the other two goals.

Wingham will host Michell on Friday night startingat 8 pm

 

Ironmen finally score in shootout, defeat Barons

The Wingham Ironmen played one of their best all around games on Saturday night defeating the Hanover Barons 4-3 in a shoot out

Wingham jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead on goals by Graham Ashcroft and Tyler Kellum.  Hanover would score 2 of their own before the end of the first period to tie the game.

Hanover scored in the 2nd period and held the lead until the 18:52 mark of the third period when Chris Corbett scored to tie the game

Overtime solved nothing and a shootout was required.  Chris Corbett scored for Wingham and Matt Stirling stood tal in the Wingham net to secure a 4-3 win

The Ironmen are off until January 3 when they travel to Kincardine.  Next home game is January 8 when the Mitchell Hawks come to town

Ironmen dismantled by Hawks

The Wingham Ironmen were handed a 6-3 setback at the hands of the Walkerton Hawks on Friday night

Scoring for Wingham were Brady Houston, Nic Carter and Chris Corbett.

The team travels to Durham to play the Barons on Saturday night

Ironmen fall to Bull Dogs in OT

The Wingham Ironmen fell to the Kincardine Bull Dogs 3-2 in overtime this past Sunday

The Ironmen found themselves down 2-0 at the end of the second period but scored twice in the third to force OT on goals by Tyler Kellum and Greg Tiffin

Derek Regier, however, ended the game 2:08 into OT.

The Ironmen host Walkerton on Friday night and then travel to Durham for a battle with the Barons before the Christmas break

 

Ironmen Gain 3 of a possible 4 points in weekend action

The Wingham Ironmen gained 3 of a possible 4 points to pull into a tie with Mitchell for third placeinthe Western Junior C Standings

On Friday night the team put together a late rally to send the game to overtime and a shootout. 

With Hanover leading 3-1 with a minute and a half to go, Brady Houston cut the lead to 3-2.  With just 41 seconds left in regulation Chase Chapman sctored to tie th e game and send teh game to overtime.

Overtime solved nothing and the game went to a shotout. Hanover scored the lone goal and tookhome a 4-3 win

On Saturday night the team travelled to Goderich and came away with a 6-4 win.  Greg Tiffin had 4 points against his former club and Wade Stephenson had 3 points to pace the Wingham offense

Next weekend, Wingham travels to Walkertonon Friday night for a 8:30 game against the Hawks and will host Kincardine on Sunday at 7 pm

Back to the Future: Corbett twins back in Wingham

The Wingham Ironmen acquired Chris and Adam Corbett  from the Listowel Cyclones on Tuesday

Chris is returning o the team that he won Western Junior C Rookie of the year with in the 06-07 season.  Chris has played the last 2 plus seasons with the Cyclones.

Adam is returning to the Ironmen for his third tour of duty with the team.  He spent all of last season with the Essex 73s and helped them win an All Ontario Championship.

The new boys will be in action on Friday night as the club hosts the Hanover Barons.  Game TIme is at 8 pm.

Ironmen fall to Patriots, defeat Bull Dogs

The Wingham Ironmen defeated the Kincardine BullDogs 4-3 in over time on Sunday night with recently acquired Steve Kerr scoring the OT winner.

Graham Ashcroft, Greg Tiffin and Brady Houston scored the other Wingham goals and Jason Hamilton played a strong game in the Wingham net.

On Saturday night the team suffered a 3-0 loss at the hands of the Mount Forest Patriots.

Next weekend, the team hosts Hanover on Friday night and will travel to Goderich on Saturday night


Ironmen fall to Mitchell twice, Announce Signing

The Wingham Ironmen were defeated 5-2 by the Mitchell Hawks on Friday night.  This was the first loss in regualtion by the team on home ice this season

Tyler Kellum and Brandon Chaffe were the goal getters for the Ironmen.

On Saturday night the team fell 6-2 to Mitchell. This time, Chaffe and Greg Tiffin were the goal scorers

The team looks to correct the two game slide with games against Mount Forest  on Saturday night and Kincardine Sunday night.  The game vs Kincardine starts at 7 pm following the conclusion of the Silver Stick tournament

The Ironmen are pleased to announce the acquisiton of Steve Kerr from the Listowel Cyclones.  Steve brings speed and ofense to the Wingham defense corps and will join the team for its game in Mitchell on Saturday night.

 

 

Ironmen defeat Sailors, fall to Hawks in shootout

The Wingham Ironmen defeated the Goderich Sailors 6-2 on Saturday night

Tyler Kellum and Jon Hunsberger had 2 goals each and Greg Tiffin and Brett Nichol each added single markers

Wingham carried a 1-0 lead into the third period but ended up needing a clutch goal from Cory MacDonald with 345 left in regulation to send the game to overtime as Walkerton potted 2 third period markers.

The team travels to Goderich on Saturday night for a game with the Sailors.  Game time is 8 pm

 

 

 

Ironmen prepare for busy weekend

The Wingham Ironmen will host the Walkerton Hawks on Friday night beginning at 8 pm in what should be a very entertaining game.  The first two games between these games have been split.

The team travels to Goderich for a tilit with the Sailors on Saturday night beginning at 8 pm.

Last weekend the Ironmen defeated the Mount Forest Patriots 5-2

The team would like to congratulate Jason Hamilton, Chase Chapman and Wade Stephenson on being named to the Western Junior C All Star Team.  The All Star game will take place on November 22 in Mount Forest beginning at 2 pm

 

 

Hawks defeat Ironmen 5-3

The Wingham Ironmen travelled to Walkerton on Saturday night and suffered a 5-3 set back at the hands of the  Hawks

After a scoreless 1st period Walkerton sco their own to make it 4-3 but shortly red 3 quick goals to take a commanding lead.  Wingham would score once beforethe end of the period trailing 3-1 going into the third

Walkerton would make it 4-1 and Wingham would counter with two of their own to make it 4-3.  However, Walkerton would score the back breaker and seal a 5-3 Walkerton win.

Wingham will host Mount Forest on Friday night and will be holding a charity Barbeque at Valu Mart on Saturday morning.  The team will be bagging groceries and barbequing for the Wingham Fire Department.  Come out and support thisworth while cause

 

Ironmen score 3-1 victory over Goderich

The Wingham Ironmen defeated the Goderich Sailors 3-1 on Friday night.

Scoringfor Wingham were Jon Hunsberger, Brady Houston and Brandon Chaffe.  Tyler Kellum earned a pair of assists and Chaffe, Graham Ashcroft and Wade Stephenson each had single helpers

Matt Stirling earned the win in the Wingham net.

The team travels to Walkerton on Saturday night for a clash with the Hawks.  Game time is 630 pm

Ironmen continue winning ways

The Wingham Ironmen continued their winning ways on Saturday night defeating the Mount Forest Patriots 5-2.

Wingham goals were scored by Cory MacDonald (2) Brady Houston, Greg Tiffin and Brandon Chaffe.

The Ironmen have now won 4 of their past 5 games and look to continue their strong play next weekend when they host Goderich on Friday night and travel to Walkerton on Saturday night.

 

Ironmen continue strong home ice play - defeat Kincardine 2-1

The Wingham Ironmen hosted the Kincardine Bull Dogs on Friday night and came away with a 2-1 win

Cory MacDonald and Jon Hunsberger each scored their first of the season for the Ironmen.  Andrew Turon and Brady Houston each earned assists.

The team travels to Mount Forest on Saturday night to play the Patriots Game time is 830 pm

Ironmen finally solve Mitchell, get dismantled by Hanover in Weekend Acion

 The Wingham Ironmen finally were able to solve the Mitchell Hawks as the team defeated Mitchell 3-2 on Friday night

Brady Houston scored the winning goal with 22 secondsleft in regulation to seal the win

On Saturday he team travelled to Durham to play the Barons and came out on the wrong end of a 6-1 score.

Next weekend the team will host Kincardine on Friday night and travel to Mount Forest on Saturday night.

Ironmen defeat Goderich 3-2

The Wingham Ironmen traveled to Goderich on Saturday night and came home with a 3-2 win.

Goderich held a 2-0 lead at the end of the first period but Wingham would come back with 2 in the second and one in the third to get the victory.

Brandon Chaffe scored twice and Josh Fox.ton socred the other.

Wingham will host Mitchell on Friday night at 8 pm.  The game is being sponsored by PA Roy.  Saturday, the team tavels to Durham for the first time to play the Hanover Barons.

Patriots win 3-2 in shoot out

the Wingham Ironmen fell 3-2 to Mount Forest in a shoot out on Friday night.

Wingham never had the lead in the game tying the gameat the 8 minute mark of the third period on a goal by Wade Stephenson and again with 1:06 left on the clock. as Chase Chapman found the back of the net

The Ironmen outshot Mount Forest 38-16 but could not capitalize on the abundance of shots.

The team travels to Goderich on Saturday night to play the Sailors.  Game time is 8 pm

Ironmen Host Patriots Friday travel to Goderich Saturday

The Wingham Ironmen will host the Mount Forest Patriots on Friday night starting at 8 pm.  Game tonight is sponsored by Godfathers Pizza

The team travels to Goderich to play the Sailors on Saturday night for a 8 pm start.

The team split their two games last weekend winning a thrilling 2-1 game vs Walkerton on Friday but falling to Mitchell on Saturday night.

 

Ironmen lose 4-1 to Mitchell

The Wingham Ironmen lost 4-1 to the Mitchell Hawks on Saturday night the second period

Graham Ashcroft was the lone goal scorer for the Ironmen scoring mid way through the second period

Jason Hamilton played another strong game in the Wingham net but came out on the wrong end of the socre board

Wingham will host Mount Forest on Friday night beginning at 8 pm/

 

 

Ironmen defeat Walkerton in exciting 2-1 win

The Wingham Ironmen defeated the Walkerton Hawks 2-1 in over time on Friday night  in an exciting Western Juniro C Hockey game

Both goaltenders (Clayton Fritsch for Walkerton, Jason Hamilton for Wingham) stood on their heads and made many key saves that could have decided the game either way

Aaron Armstrong scored the James McHaig replied for Walkerton.

Wingham travels to Mitchell on Saturday night looking to redeem themselvesafter a weak showing last weekend.
