The Midwestern Junior Hockey League is pleased to announce that every week througout the 2007-2008 season, one player from our league will receive the "Unique / Twin City Trophy - Player of the Week Award". The winner of this weekly award will win a MWJHL sweatshirt compliments of Unique Screen Printing and a customized plaque donated by Twin City Trophy.

Week # 23 : MWJHL Administrator Shawn McKelvie announced today that the "Unique Player of the Week" for week #23 of the 2007-2008 season is Greg Virgo of the Cambridge Winter Hawks.
In 2 games this weekend, Greg recorded 3 goals and 3 assists.
On Friday against Owen Sound, Greg notched a hat trick and added two assists in the Winter Hawks victory over the Greys.
On Saturday, Greg assisted on the game winning goal in a 2-1 victory over Listowel.

Week # 22 : MWJHL Administrator Shawn McKelvie announced today that the "Unique Player of the Week" for week #22 of the 2007-2008 season is Chad Sumsion of the Stratford Cullitons.
Stratford's nominee for Player of the week is Chad Sumsion. In 3 games over the weekend Chad scored 3 goals and added 2 assists in the Cullitons 3 game weekend.

Week # 21 : MWJHL Administrator Shawn McKelvie announced today that the "Unique Player of the Week" for week #21 of the 2007-2008 season is Kurtis Bartliff of the Listowel Cyclones.
In 2 games this past week Kurtis had 2 goals and 3 assists and had Plus 4 rating. One of his goals was the game winner vs Guelph and Kurtis assisted on all of Listowels goals in 3-3 tie in Stratford.

Week # 20 : MWJHL Administrator Shawn McKelvie announced today that the "Unique Player of the Week" for week #20 of the 2007-2008 season is Mike Doran of the Kitchener Dutchmen.
Mike had all 3 goals in a 9-3 loss to Elmira and they were all shorthanded.

Week # 19 : MWJHL Administrator Shawn McKelvie announced today that the "Unique Player of the Week" for week #19 of the 2007-2008 season is Jack Mullan of the Brantford Golden Eagles.
Jack had 5 goals in weekend play for the Eagles. On Friday night in Listowel he recorded 2 goals, one even strength and one shorthanded, leading his team to a 5-3 victory over the Cyclones. On Saturday night in Cambridge Mullan continued his strong play recording a hat trick in a 4-4 O/T tie with the Hawks. Mullan scored even strength, on the power play, and recorded his league leading 8th short handed goal of the season.

Week # 18 : MWJHL Administrator Shawn McKelvie announced today that the "Unique Player of the Week" for week #18 of the 2007-2008 season is Louie George of the Cambridge Winter Hawks..
George allowed only two goals in 2 games as the Winter Hawks took three out of four points against Listowel and Stratford. On Friday, George stopped 37 shots in a 2-1 overtime loss and on Saturday Louie stopped 34 shots to
record his league leading 3rd shutout in a 1-0 win.

Week # 15 The Midwestern would like to announce that Jordan Hardy of the Kitchener Dutchmen is the "Unique Player of the Week".

Week # 14 - For the fourth time this season a Brantford Golden Eagles player has has been named "Unique Player of the Week"
Golden Eagles goaltender Tom Shelly had a win 6-5 in overtime on Thursday against Guelph, he won Friday night in Stratford 5-1 and was the goalie of record in the Showcase game stopping all 3 shooters in the shootout for a 2-1 win.

Week # 11 - For the second time this season "Unique Player of the Week" has been awarded to Waterloo Siskins forward, Kyle Locke.
This past Friday night vs. the league leading Elmira Sugar Kings, Kyle had a 3-point night with 2 goals and one assist, which included the game winner in overtime with his team shorthanded.
Sunday night, Kyle continued by adding 2 more points to his team-leading total by scoring 1 goal and adding 1 assist. Kyle was a +5 in the 2 weekend games and had 8 shots on net.

Week # 10 - "Unique Player of the Week"has been awarded to Cambridge Winterhawk's Cody Hall.
Hall, in his second year with the Winter Hawks, recorded two goals and two assists in Cambridge's 6-4 victory of the Kitchener Dutchmen.
Hall currently leads Cambridge in scoring through the first half of the season and will receive a MWJHL sweatshirt and a plaque recognizing his achievement. "Congratulations Cody"

Week # 9 - For just the second time this season a Defenceman has been awarded "Unique Player of the Week".
With one goal in his first 17 games, Kitchener Dutchmen Defenceman, Shawn Bechtloff broke out in a big way this past weekend, scoring all 3 goals for his Kitchener squad in an overtime loss to Waterloo; for his first Junior hockey hat trick.

Week # 6 : For the first time this season "Unique Player of the Week" will be awarded to a goaltender. It was announced today that Dan Morrison of the Elmira Sugar Kings has been awarded this honour.
Morrison backstopped Elmira to 2 wins and a tie last week bringing his record to 6-0-4 with a GAA of 2.15 and a .943 save percentage. Dan will receive a MWJHL hooded sweater donated by Unique Screen Printing.

Week # 5 : It was announced today that the "Unique Player of the Week" for week #5 has been awarded to forward Kyle Locke from The Waterloo Siskins.
