The Western Junior C Hockey League and Ideal Supply, named one of the top 50 managed companies in Canada, have inked an agreement that makes Ideal Supply the official sponsor of the Western Junior C Hockey League.
"It's such a great fit for us," said Ideal Supply president and CEO Tim MacDonald. "We have a lot of people at Ideal Supply that love and care about hockey and it is such a great way to impact and improve the game at the local level. We're very excited about the partnership."
Ideal Supply is a long-time supporter of minor hockey and a key sponsor of the Junior B Listowel Cyclones.
Ideal Supply's head office is in Listowel and the company services all of the areas in and around the Western Junior C Hockey League teams. The league has teams in Kincardine, Walkerton, Wingham, Hanover, Goderich and Mount Forest as well as a new entry in Mitchell.
John Kastner, OHA Junior C chairman and the chairman of the Western Junior C Hockey League said the deal is unique. Traditionally, companies have sponsored teams but sponsoring a league is the first such arrangement in the Ontario Hockey Association.
"Tim and I were in complete agreement as to what we wanted to achieve. We wanted to improve the game experience for the Western Junior C fan and we wanted to improve the hockey experience for the Western Junior C player. Because of this agreement, both those things will happen."
Each team will have an Ideal Supply night with something special for the fans. The company will also be involved in the league's bursary program.
