OHA Player of the Month

MLH Senior AAA - Peter Mackellar

With seven goals and 16 assists for a total of 23 points, Peter Mackellar is the MLH Senior AAA Player of the Month. This 6'2, 210 pound power forward has helped to put his Whitby Dunlops into first place at the quarter mark of the tough Senior AAA schedule. A three goal, four assists preformance against the Norwood Vipers in a 12-9 win for the Dunlops was Mackellars highlight game for October. His team play is outstanding. A natural leader on and off the ice Mackellar will ba a marked man by the opposition for the rest of the season. No doubt, he's up to the challenge.

OJHL MacKinnon Division - Dorian Peca

Dorian Peca becomes the OJHL MacKinnon division Player of the Month for October. Peca's impressive 20 points in nine games was highlighted by an outstanding five goals and one assist as he helped his Vaughan Vipers to a 8-1 victory over the Brampton Capitols. His five goals broke the Vipers long seven year record of most goals in a game. This 5'10, 170 pound forward has an ability to beat goalies around the league. his quick release and smart hockey sense makes him a danger to opposing players.

OJHL Phillips Division - Jonathon McQueen

It's not every season a goalie comes around for a team and literally stands on his head to help out his team. Jonathon MacQueen is that goalie. The OJHL Phillips division Player of the Month for October  helped his Collingwood Blues to six wins.  Shut out games agianst the Bramalea Blues and a hard faught 1-0 win agianst the Dixie Beehives highlighted MacQueens impressive month. His goals against average in eight games was an outstanding 2.50 with a .921 save per-centage. MacQueen is proof that hard work pays off.

OJHL Ruddock Division - Stephane Chabot

Historically hockey coaches have said "good offence comes from good defence." This statement proves true for the OJHL Ruddock division Player of the Month for October, Stephane Chabot. Playing 145 games in the OJHL over the past three seasons this 6'2, 210 pound defenceman has left his mark on the Jr. A league. In nine games Chabot was a major factor in the seven wins his Kingston Voyageurs, holding leading scorers on the opposition to only five goals while he was on the ice. His hockey sense has also contributed offensively with two goals and seven assists, both goals coming on the power play. Chabot shows that defence wins games.

OJHL Central Division - Joey Diamond

The Hamilton Red Wings found themselves in an awesome position in October. They had an offensive gifted player in Joey Diamond. The speedy 5'7, 165 pound forward is the OJHL Central division Player of the Month. Diamonds October preformance was highlighted by a five consecutive goal night against the St. Mikes Buzzers, an OJHL record. A shifty player with a great shot Diamond posses a problem for opposing coaches who try to shut him down game in and game out. A tallent on and off the ice Diamonds leadership and performance is some thing players all over should emulate.

GOJHL Western Conference - Blair Brewer

Leading the GOJHL Western Conference in points for the month of October, Blair Brewer is the OHA player of the month. Brewers impressive 21 points in 10 games puts him among the top scorers in the Western Conference. His impressive month was highlighted by a six point night where he scored a goal and five assists in a 9-3 victory over the Chatham Maroons. Brewers ability to find the back of the net makes this sniper a danger to the opposition. His quick release is deadly, his passing is flawless and his hockey sense is tremendous.

GOJHL Mid-Western - Anthony Colizza

With 16 points in 10 games the Cambridge Winter Hawks, Anthony Colizza is the GOJHL Mid-Western player of the Month. Colizza has become the go-to man for face off's for the Winter Hawks this season, taking all of their important draws in timely situations. His skill matched with his determination to better his game has alowed him to become a great penalty killer. The 6'1, 175 pound forward is a two way player with a gift of point production. His three goals and two assits in a game against the Guelph Dominators highlights his October preformance.

Central Division Jr. C - Sean Griffin

Sean Griffin is the COJHL Player of the Month for October. Griffin's impressive 21 points in seven games has helped to put him at the top of the league in scoring. This 5'8, 160 pound speedy centre has a natural ability to find the back of the net. He scored six goals and added two assists against the Little Brittain Merchants on October 28. No doubt his Lakefield Chiefs enjoy his point production. Griffen is proof that speed kills. The opposition has yet to stop him, and the way he's going they won't.

Empire Division Jr. C - Andrew Halliday

A pure goal scorer, Andrew Halliday is the Empire Division Jr. C Player of the Month. Halliday's 31 points in eight games helped his Napanee Raiders to the top of the division. With 11 goals and 20 assists in eight games this power forwards ability to find the open man and the back of the net is something not many players are able to achieve. Halliday averages four points a game. In a 11-0 win he scored two goals and five assists against the Campbellford Rebels. In a 8-1 win over the Colborne Cobras he scored three goals and three assists. A natural tallent on the ice, Halliday looks to continue to produce for Napanee for the remainder of the season.

Georgain Bay Mid-Ontario - Grant McCaffrey

On a re-building team with many young players it is tough to get through games, let alone win them. The Georgain Bay Mid-Ontario Player of the Month, Grant McCaffrey, seems to be a difference maker in this position. The Stayner Siskins goaltender faces tough shots night in and night out basis. with two wins and two losses McCaffrey posts a 5.05 goals against average. His highlight game was a tough 2-1 win against the Midland Flyers where he turned away 37 shots.
In a tough position when all eyes are watching your every move, McCaffrey feeds of the spotlight.

Great Lakes Jr. C - Dan Hyatt

With seven points in six games Dan Hyatt of the Dresden Jr. Kings is the Great Lakes Player of the Month. A speedy forward who preforms at both ends of the ice, Hyatt is a threat to other teams. With three of his four goals so far this season coming on the power play, the opposition is best to stay out of penalty trouble. A dominating preformance against Alvinston in a 4-1 win was one of Hyatt's highlight games. He scored a goal and an assists. Hyatt has a gift to preform as a two way player and is a valued member of the Dresden Jr. Kings hockey club.

Western Junior C Hockey League - Blake Underwood

With 19 points in October, Blake Underwood is the Western Junior "C" Hockey Leagues Player of the month. His ability to spot the open man on the ice is the reason why this play maker averaged two assists in his seven games throughout the month. Underwoods highlight game was a 9-2 win over the Mount Forest Patriots where he scored an impressive three goals and two assists. This 175 pound, six-foot, power forward has created headaches for opposing coaches who try to stop his size from crashing their net.

Niagara Jr. C East - Tyler Gilbertson

Facing an average of 50 shots a game Tyler Gilbertson is the Niagara Jr. C East Player of the Month for October. This shifty goaltender has been a star on a team that has struggled this season and has yet to post a win. Gilbertson posts a .911 save per-centage while his team struggles to find the back of the oppositions net. His highlight game for October came against the Dundas Blues where he took his Dunnville Terriers to overtime. Turning away 68 shots was not enough as Gilbertsons team fell short lossing 3-2 five minutes into overtime. Don't let his wins and losses record fool you, Gilbertson is a solid goaltender any team would want.

Niagara - West Division - Brandon Roher

Bosting an impressive 0.917 save per-centage Brandon Roher is the Niagara - West Division Player of the Month for October. Roher has been nothing short of great in his five wins in seven games. Highlight games include an impressive 5-4 overtime win against the Simcoe Storm. Roher also turned away 43 shots in a 4-2 win against the Woodstock Renegades on October 25.
With Roher backing his Aylmer Spitfires, the chances of winning are much improved.

SOJHL - Stephen McLinchey

Stephen McLinchey is an explosive player who can find the back of the net. Leading his North Middlesex Stars to six out of nine wins in October he becomes the SOJHL Player of the Month. with 23 points in nine games McLinchey is the top point producer on his team. the 5'10, 180 pound forward uses his speed and his shot to produce on the game sheet. Two five point nights highlight his impressive month, a 5-3 win against the Lucan Irish followed by a 9-6 win over the Exeter Hawks. McLinchey's hockey sense is some thing that can not be taught, natural goal scorers are just gifted.
