The Hockey community lost a bright young star this week. Mickey Renaud, a member of the Windsor Spitfires and former Tecumseh Chief passed away suddenly at his home this past Monday.
Mickey played his minor hockey in Tecumseh before moving on to the Sun County AAA Minor Hockey Association.
In the 2004 OHL Draft, Mickey was taken in the 7th round by the Windsor Spitfires. He played the 2004/2005 season for the Tecumseh Chiefs of the Western Ontario Hockey League and was awarded, the Chief's "Top Rookie".
Mickey went on to play for the Windsor Spitfires of the Ontario Hockey League. Following his sophomore year for the Spits he was drafted by the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League.
As captain of the Spitfires this year, Mickey played a large part in his team’s success. He was considered the heart and soul of Windsor Spitfires.
To Honour Mickey, The Tecumseh Chief’s will be retired his #44 jersey that he wore, permanently at the conclusion of the season.
