Glen McCarron (right) of the London Nationals and Travis Ouellette of the Tecumseh Chiefs were named MVP's for their respective teams in the first GOJHL Prospects Game played Monday at the Allman Arena in Stratford.
Ouellette scored twice to lead the Midwestern/Western team to a 5-4 victory over the Golden Horseshoe/Western team in the first-ever all-star game featuring players from all three GOJHL conferences.
McCarron led all scorers with four points (goal, three assists). Michael Sharp of the Nationals had two goals for the GH/W team, while the Nationals' Josh Johnston also scored, giving the three Nationals representatives a total of seven points. Lucas VanNatter of the Fort Erie Meteors had three assists for the GH/W squad.
Other goal scorers for the MW/W team were Cody Hall of the Cambridge Winter Hawks, Eric McClure of the Listowel Cyclones and Chris Rocca of the St. Thomas Stars.
Dan Morrison of the Elmira Sugar Kings was the starting netminder for the MW/W team and stopped 14 of 15 shots faced. Halfway through tyhe second period, he was replaced by Matt Smith of the Kitchener Dutchmen, who picked up the win, allowing three goals on 13 shots over the final 30 minutes.
Kyle Brodhagen of the St. Marys Lincolns started in goal for the GH/W team and stopped 16 of 19 shots faced before being replaced midway through the second period by Brendan Sullivan of the Port Colborne Sailors, who allowed two goals on 27 shots.
The M/W team held a 46-28 advantage in shots over the GH/W squad.
WOHL players -- who were split between the two teams for this year's event -- accounted for 11 total points, with the Midwestern players earning seven points and Golden Horseshoe players notching four points.
Among the 400 spectators were more than 40 scouts representing the NCAA, CIS, OHL and NHL. They were in attendance to watch players who were deemed to have a chance of furthering their hockey careers at a higher level.

It is expected that next year's event will be held in a Western Conference location, with prospects from one of the other two conferences being split between two teams. Conferences will take turns being the split squad from year to year as the event rotates fom conference to conference.
