BRANTFORD, ON – After winning their semi-finals on Friday, the Bentley Generals and Brantford Blast will meet for the 100th Allan Cup, Canada’s National Senior Championship, on Saturday in Brantford, ON.

The championship game begins at 3:00 p.m. ET at the Brantford Civic Centre, and can be seen on TSN/RDS, Hockey Canada’s official broadcasters, beginning at 3:30 p.m. ET/12:30 p.m. PT. Check your local listings for broadcast times in your area.

After losing both of their round-robin games, the Generals eliminated the defending Allan Cup-champion Lloydminster Border Kings in Thursday’s quarterfinal and got two goals from Mark Woolf and singles from Dwayne Hay, Jim Lawrence, Jared Smyth and Ray Schultz in a 6-1 semi-final win over the Shawinigan Xtreme Bionest.

Chad Spurr was the overtime hero for the host Blast in their semi-final victory over the Dundas Real McCoys, scoring 6:39 into the extra frame after Steve Rice had tied the game for Brantford with just 39 seconds remaining in the third period.

The Allan Cup is one of the oldest hockey club-team competitions in North America, having been first competed for in 1908. Only once in the past 101 years, in 1945, has an Allan Cup champion not been crowned.
