Hawks Split Weekend Games

The Hagersville Hawks got into the win column with a pair of wins on the weekend to improve to 2-2-0-1, which is good for five points and forth place in the conference. On Sunday night, the Hawks traveled to St George and got an outstanding performance in goal from both Eric Wobbes and James Kerst. The combination turned away 57 shots and Cody Johnson scored with 8 seconds remaining to give Hagersville a 6-5 win. Jesse Sommers and Rick Schipper gave the Hawks a 2-0 lead after twenty minutes with a pair of power play goals. Allan Doroszkiewicz and Jesse Sault tallied in the second and Sommers’ scored his second of the game in the third period. Prosper Mwenga picked up a pair of assists with singles going to Evan Vansickle, Jim Greenfield, Scott DeGraaf, David Watson and Brad Williams. Hagersville led 2-0 after the first and 4-2 after forty minutes of play.
 
On Saturday, the Hawks defeated the Wellesley Applejacks by a score of 5-3. Cody Johnson scored three times to pace the offense with Jesse Sommers and Jim Greenfield adding singles. Schipper, Doroszkiewicz, Sommers, Darren Kraay, Vansickle, Watson, Greenfield and Sault each picked up assists. Eric Wobbes stopped 26 shots for the win.
 
The Hawks return to action on Thursday night as they travel to Ayr for an 8pm face off. Hagersville returns home to play Buford on Saturday night. Game time is 730pm. The Hagersville Hawks will host their annual “Meet the Hawks” social after the game at the Hagersville Legion.
