The Hagersville Hawks opened up their home and home series with the Burford Bulldogs on Tuesday night when they traveled to Burford. Eric Wobbes stopped 46 shots as the Hawks handed the Bulldogs their first loss on home ice in 2007. Rick Schipper gave the Hawks a 1-0 lead with a power play goal less than two minutes into the second period. Bob Neilson and Jesse Sommers picked up assists on the goal. The Bulldogs tied the game at one with a power play goal of their own with 10:39 to play in the second period. Cody Johnson put Hagersville back into the lead thirty seconds later on a goal assisted by Travis Smith. The game remained at 2-1 deep into the third period when the Bulldogs had their best chance to tie the game when awarded a penalty shot with just over four minutes to play. However, Wobbes came up with the big save and the Hawks held on for a 2-1 victory.
The Hawks next home game is Saturday night as they host the Bulldogs. Game time is 7:30pm.
