PLAYERS, FANS and OTHERS:
I understand that there a lot of stories floating around about the Patriot Hockey Club. Although I do not personally go on the Forum, I understand that stories have been running wild. Permit me to set the record straight.
For several years I have been on the executive of the Patriots and because I signed the line of credit, I was considered by many as the owner of the team. We as an organization have made many changes over the past few seasons; some have been good decisions and some not so good.
As it worked out we found that we did not have a proper plan in effect to compete with the “Big Boy Teams” and thus as President, I needed to make some hard decisions in the best interest of the Patriots.
My number one priority was to keep the team in Mount Forest. Number two was to involve a group who could make the team more competitive. I believe that I accomplished those two goals. I realize that at this particular moment a wave of shock has created some anxieties. From a player perspective, once you gain a better understanding, I believe that you should be excited. No one likes to lose on a regular basis and I believe that this move should turn the team around.
The executive of the team has been overworked for the last few years and I believe that this move will give them a much needed boost. I also understand that there could be some bench staff concerns, however I believe that a solution can be worked out with the new ownership group. We all liked out current bench staff, however I believe that the new ownership will make any necessary changes it may take to becoming a winner. Nothing remains permanent and we must look to potential results if changes are made.
I ask that each player, fan, bench staff and executive consider all options and potential results prior to making any un-calculated moves. I am a firm believer in the Patriots. I bleed Patriot colours and I want more that anyone for this team to succeed.
Please give the new ownership group a fair chance. Look beyond any negativity that you may have read or heard and make your decisions based on what is best for the team. Good Luck, I will be there cheering you on!! I will see all of you players at our year end banquet.
